Giordano and artists with special needs team up to create a limited edition t-shirts collection

  • For every t-shirt sold, AED25 will be given back to Mawaheb Art Studio for its development

  • The project is part of GIFT, Giordano’s CSR initiative

Giordano, the global apparel brand with 20 years of presence in the region, is rolling out across its UAE stores a new limited edition collection of t-shirts designed by Mawaheb’s artists with special needs. The collaboration with the Dubai Art Studio is on its second year and is part of Giordano Initiative For Talent (GIFT), the brand’s CSR programme to support the local community.

The students of Mawaheb studio have used their creative expression and vision for the theme “World Without Strangers”. The second Giordano limited edition t-shirts collection now carries the imprints of the best artworks by the student artists. The collection features six different designs, each one accompanied by the signature of its creator, and imprinted on white and black T-shirts.

“We are pleased with our continued collaboration with Mawaheb as well as provide their talented group of artists a platform to publicly display their creativity. Last year, the t-shirts sold out quickly and we hope the initiative will replicate the same extraordinary success,” commented Ishwar Chugani, Managing Director of Giordano Middle East FZE and Executive Director of Giordano International.

In 2012, the sale of the t-shirts allowed Giordano to donate to Mawaheb for Beautiful People a contribution of AED 60,000. “The funds that we received last year have been very useful to keep developing the creative talents of our students,” said Wemmy de Maaker, founder of Mawaheb from Beautiful people. “What matters most though, is the recognition and acceptance that our artists experience whenever they see their creations displayed outside the studio; by having their artworks imprinted on t-shirts, Giordano is really gifting them with a lifetime memorable experience”.

The limited edition of 2,400 t-shirts will be retailed at AED 50 of which 50% will be given to Mawaheb for their development.

The Mawaheb t-shirts will be available in 15 Giordano stores across the UAE from February 4th 2014 until stocks last. These stores are Al Ghurair Centre , Deira City Centre , Mall of Emirates , Dubai Mall , Dubai Festival City , Al Sabkha Corner Deira , Abu Dhabi Mall , Sharjah City Centre , Al Wahda Mall Abu Dhabi , Al Fahidi Corner , Ajman City Centre , Mirdiff City Centre , Ibn Battuta Mall , Al Ain Mall , Fujairah City Centre.
